The DOGC publishes the transition from the state of emergency due to hydrological drought to Alert regarding what unit 9 – Darnius Boadella Reservoir is doing.
The new restrictions will be more permissive than those that were in the state of emergency. However, there are still some and broadly speaking they would be:
Swimming pools: Only on-site swimming pools that have water recirculation and are newly built or have been emptied for repair (both public and private) can be filled and/or refilled. Removable pools cannot be filled, only those in educational centers and/or community centers that have less than 500 l of capacity.
Cleaning of pavements and facades: Pressure water systems can be used to clean them (not water hoses) or a mop, sponge and bucket. We understand that here painters can use the Karcher to remove paint from facades or terraces that can also be cleaned with the Karcher.
Cleaning vehicles outside commercial establishments: only with a sponge and bucket and to clean windows, license plates and rearview mirrors.
Ornamental fountains: They cannot be filled.
Watering public or private gardens: This can only be done from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. and with minimal water consumption and private gardens, twice a week. This includes watering football fields during these hours and even soaking before matches, as long as the allowance of 450 m3/hectare/month is not exceeded.
In the ALERTA scenario, nothing is specified about showers on the beach or in sports centers, it is left to the discretion of the City Council whether to open them or not. As for fountains for water consumption, it also does not say anything about opening them or not, but in this case, it is advisable to keep them open, especially in summer.
It is hoped that with whatever rain falls over the next two months, the drought will definitely end and we will return to a state of normality before summer, as the reservoir is currently at 60% of its capacity.
